Russell Brand Cancels Tour Dates After Mother Involved In Hit-And-Run
Russell Brand's upcoming Belfast show has been cancelled after the comedian's mother was injured in a hit-and-run collision last week.
Brand posted a video to Twitter in which he explains why the rest of his UK tour has been cancelled. He said that his mother was involved in a "really serious road accident and has sustained what are called poly-traumatic injuries, that means numerous, life-threatening injuries".
It is understood that all tickets for the cancelled shows will be refunded "or possibly rescheduled".
97% Of Children Allocated Nursery School Places
Sinn Féin Education spokesperson Karen Mullan MLA has welcomed confirmation that almost 97% of children have been allocated their nursery school place and over 99% of children have been allocated their primary school place.
Speaking after the Education Authority released both sets of figures, the Foyle MLA commented: "I know that for parents the waiting to hear if their child has been allocated a place close to their home can be an anxious time. The fact that 97% nursery places and over 99% of primary school places have now been allocated will come as a welcome relief to many parents.
"For those families who have not yet secured a place, I would urge them to stay in the process until appropriate nursery and primary school places are secured.
"I am also calling on the Education Authority to work closely with parents and schools in order to ensure the needs of parents and children are met."
