Slight Increase In Unemployment In NI

The unemployment rate in Northern Ireland has increased slightly, according to the latest Labour Market Survey.

The current figure stands at 3.3%, up by 0.2% compared to last month.

However, the figure is significantly below the rate compared to a year ago and lower than the UK average for the third consecutive quarter.

NI unemployment figure falls to new low
Northern Ireland's unemployment rate has fallen to a new low. The latest labour force figures, released today, show that the current unemployment figure has fallen from 6.3% to 5.2% for the period January – March 2004. Employment figures, meanwhile, have increased by 3,000 to 720,000 for the same period.
