Call For Mesh Implants To Be Suspended In NI

The Alliance Party is calling for mesh implants to be suspended in Northern Ireland.

Health spokesperson Paula Bradshaw made the call after a decision was made to suspend mesh implants in England until at least March.

She said: "I have been campaigning on the issue of mesh implants for some time and have long been convinced suspension of mesh implants is the right step.

"Too many serious question marks have arisen concerning the procedure and side effects, some of which have been harrowing.

"I am in regular contact with the Department of Health and look forward to an early indication it will be at least matching the decision made in England for suspension."
