Explosive Device Thrown At Gerry Adams' Home In West Belfast
An explosive device has been thrown at the home of former Sinn Féin president Gerry Adams.
The attack, which caused damage to a car, occurred outside the property in west Belfast on Friday night, 13 July.
CCTV footage of the incident shows a car passing a driveway, with sparks seen around a parked car in a driveway and then black smoke.
Elsewhere, Sinn Féin activist Bobby Storey's house was also attacked with an explosive device.
Sinn Féin Policing and Justice Spokesperson, Gerry Kelly, slammed those responsible.
"These were reprehensible and cowardly attacks on the family homes of Gerry Adams and Bobby Storey," he said.
"Grandchildren were in the driveway of Adams' home minutes before the attack.
"I would appeal for calm. These attacks are the desperate acts of increasingly desperate and irrelevant groups."
Mr Adams also challenged those behind the attacks to meet with him.
"For those who were involved in the attack if they have the gumption to sneak up on our homes I think they or their representatives should come and meet me," he said.
"I would like them to have the guts and the gumption to sit down and tell what this is about. I would also like those who are involved in exploiting children in Derry or those who are poisoning the atmosphere in east Belfast to do the same."
