CITB NI To Launch Construction Site Training Programme
The Construction Industry Training Board (CITB in Northern Ireland is to launch a new free training programme for construction site operatives.
The initiative will train 15 new or existing operatives to help;
• Develop a skilled pool of labour – prepared for work
• Employers fill skills gaps and shortages
• Make recruiting new staff easier and simpler
CITB NI said the programme will provide training in 25 skill areas over three modules essential for the competent site operative.
"Employers who agree to participate in the programme will receive free publicity and acknowledgement," the organisation stated.
"Commitment to supporting the programme is easy; all that is required is for you to agree to interview the programme participants at the completion of the training with a view to potential employment."
Call for People To Register For Online Registration System
Sinn Féin MLA Colm Gildernew has encouraged people to register to vote through the new online registration service.
He said: "Online voter registration has been available from the Electoral Office for people in the north from 18 June.
"This new system makes democracy more accessible to all people and enables them to exercise their right to vote.
"This will also address the democratic deficit which exists here due to tens of thousands of people being removed from the electoral register over recent years, including 60,000 in Belfast alone.
"The Electoral Office should also reinstate the schools registration programme which has the potential to get 10,000 young people every year on to the electoral register."
SDLP Welcomes Tánaiste To L'Derry
SDLP Councillor Martin Reilly has welcomed An Tánaiste Simon Coveney TD to L'Derry after what has been a very difficult and volatile week for the city.
The Derry City and Strabane SDLP Council Group Leader said: "The SDLP were pleased to welcome An Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Simon Coveney, to Derry today to meet with a number of residents from the Bogside after a week of attacks that included petrol bombs and a number of injured Police Officers.
"We would like to thank the Irish Government for tangibly reaffirming their commitment and support for people in the North."

A new online pilot skills platform has been launched to help people discover and train for a career in cyber security. Launched by Economy Minister Diane Dodds the NI Cyber Gateway Aptitude Programme consists of a variety of online challenges and mini games called 'labs'.
