Former NIHE Chief Executive Paddy McIntyre Dies

Former Chief Executive of the Northern Ireland Housing Executive (NIHE) has died.

Staff at the NIHE paid tribute to Paddy McIntyre.

He was appointed the role in 1999 and retired in 2010.

Chief Executive of the NIHE Clark Bailie said "he will be a great loss to everyone who knew him".

He said: "Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with Paddy’s family and friends at this very difficult time.

"Paddy will be recognised as a central figure in the success of the Housing Executive and in helping improve lives of so many people.  Paddy worked in the Housing Executive for over 40 years, often in very challenging times.

"He was a leader in delivering social change through better housing and providing services to all the people and communities which we serve.  He will be remembered fondly not only by his colleagues in the Housing Executive but also by all the other organisations he worked with over the years."

NI Housing Chief Executive To Retire
Four decades on, Paddy McIntyre, the Northern Ireland Housing Executive (NIHE) boss has announced his retirement from service to local housing. From a trainee with the Northern Ireland Housing Trust in 1971 to Chief Executive of the NI Housing Executive in 1999, Paddy has had a long and distinguished career in housing.

Housing Executive Urged To Clarify Tower Block Proposals
Sinn Féin Housing Spokesperson Carál Ní Chuilín has written to the Chief Executive of the Housing Executive Board seeking clarity on their plans for Tower Blocks in north Belfast. The North Belfast MLA said: "There are 33 Tower blocks across the north, seven of which are in the New Lodge area of North Belfast.
