Irish Police Urged To Co-Operate With Arlene Arkinson Investigation
The sister of Arlene Arkinson has called on An Gardaí Síochána to provide more information on bodies discovered in an exhumed grave earlier this year.
It is understood that Gardaí – Irish police – exhumed a grave in County Sligo as part of an investigation into the disappearance of 15-year-old Arlene in 1994.
Arlene Arkinson was from Castlederg, County Tyrone, but disappeared after she attended a disco in County Donegal, across the Irish border. Her disappearance has always been treated as murder, despite the fact her body has never been found.
Following the exhumation, gardaí said that a body recovered from the site was not Arlene.
However, Kathleen Arkinson has said that they have been told that more bodies were discovered in the site, but it is not known if any of those bodies were officially examined.
Marking the 24th anniversary of Arlene's disappearance, her family have called on Gardaí to "co-operate" and provide more information to the ongoing investigation.
According to a report by the BBC, the Coroner's officers are understood to have instructed the PSNI to seek more details on the exhumed grave site from the Irish colleagues.

Steve Aiken has announced he is to resign as leader of the Ulster Unionist Party (UUP). Mr Aiken has written to the Chairman of the party, Danny Kennedy, stating his resignation.
