New 152-Space Park And Ride Facility Unveiled In Toome
A new 152-space Park and Ride facility has been built at the Drumderg roundabout in Toome, Co Antrim.
The site, which includes five dedicated disabled spaces and two electric car charging points, has 50 more spaces than the previous facility. In addition, a new pedestrian footbridge has also been constructed to improve accessibility and ensure safe access to the car park for commuters.
The £2 million scheme has been developed as part of the £160 million A6 Dualling project.
David Porter, Divisional Roads Manager, Department for Infrastructure said: "Work on the A6 Randalstown to Castledawson Dualling Scheme is progressing to programme. Over the last few months commuters will have seen progress being made on a number of bridge structures along the route. The good weather this summer has also help the earthworks' programme and, in some locations, the first of the new road surface has been laid.
"The opening of the Toome Park and Ride facility is another significant milestone for this major project. With an additional 50 spaces available it will provide increased capacity for safe and convenient parking and will facilitate shared onward journeys. The regular bus service along the main A6 will stop at this site which offers commuters an attractive alternative to using a private car for their journey between Belfast and the North West."
Women Convicted Of Benefit Fraud
A 38-year-old woman has been convicted for claiming benefits she was not entitled to.
Judith Twinem, of Crawford Park, Portadown, claimed Income Support totalling £930 while failing to declare employment.
She was given a Conditional Discharge for two years and is required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Department.
Four Men Arrested After Car Hijacked In Bangor
Police have arrested four men after a car was hijacked in Bangor, Co Down.
It is understood a man was sitting in his car in Bingham Lane car park at 10pm on Thursday, 20 September, when he was approached and ordered from his car by a man with a gun.
The hijacker then drove the vehicle from the car park down a pedestrian walkway, before colliding with a bollard.
He then ran from the vehicle, accompanied by a number of other men who are said to have been running behind the car.
Police investigating the report located and arrested four men a short time later, who remain in custody.
Anyone with information or who may have witnessed the incident are asked to contact police on 101 quoting reference number 1332 20/09/18.

Four Arrested On Suspicion Of Attempted Murder
Police have arrested four men on suspicion of attempted murder after a car struck two people in west Belfast. The incident happened on the Andersonstown Road in the early hours of Tuesday, 06 June. A black coloured BMW hit a man and a woman and failed to stop at the scene. Their injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Two Men Arrested Over Murder Of Brian McIlhagga Released
Two men arrested over the murder of Brian McIlhagga have been released. Mr McIlhagga, 42, was shot and beaten by a gang after he was dragged from a house in the Riverview Park area in Ballymoney in January 2015. A woman who was also in the house at the time was also attacked. Four children were also in the property.

Four people have been arrested after police seized £8,000 worth of cannabis in Portadown. The seizures were made after a number of house searches in the Churchill Park area on Monday, 03 October. A sum of cash was also seized.

Colin Horner Murder: Man Arrested
A 29-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of Colin Horner. Mr Horner, 35, was fatally shot in front of his young son in a supermarket car park on Sunday, 28 May. The man was arrested in the Newtownards area on Friday, 16 June. He has been taken to Musgrave Police station for questioning.
