Public Urged To Be Vigilant After 58 Reports Of Attempted Fraud
The PSNI are urging the public to be vigilant after 58 reports of attempted fraud were made in one day.
The incidents happened in Antrim, Down and Armagh on Monday, 24 September.
Scammers are trying to persuade victims to give them money, and the majority are claiming to be from HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC).
Chief Superintendent Simon Walls said: "Some of the victims said they received phone calls and automated voicemail messages from people claiming to represent the HMRC, threatening them with arrest if they don't pay taxes they owe.
"We are reassured that people are able to spot these scams, and people are picking up the phone to report them to us."
The PSNI are urging people to report any incidents to Action Fraud or the police.

Businesses Scammed Out Of £350k
Two local businesses have lost a combined sum of over £350,000 after falling victim to mandate fraud, police have revealed. The firms in the Mid Ulster area had their emails hacked on Wednesday 04 November, when payments of just over £20,000 and £330,000 were made to bogus accounts. It is unclear as yet whether the money will be recovered.

Residents And Police Attacked At L'Derry Bonfire
Residents and police officers came under attack last night at a bonfire in the Lecky Road area of L'Derry. It is understood that residents in the area were attacked with bottles and rock by people gathered for the bonfire. When police responded to reports of the attacks, they also came under attack by petrol bombs, rocks and bottles.

Police Arrest Three Amid Reports Of Fraud
Detectives from the PSNI's Economic Crime Unit have arrested three people amid a spate of attempted fraud in Northern Ireland. Two women, aged 37 and 26, and a 37 year-old man are under suspicion of a number of offences related to fraud, blackmail and criminal property.
