Explore Enterprise Information Events Announce
The Prince's Trust has announced a number of 'Explore Enterprise' information sessions.
The Explore Enterprise programme helps thousands of small businesses get off the ground each year. The programme offers a package of mentoring and practical support, including business plan writing workshops and financial planning.
Participants will be provided with:
• an information session where you can find out what the enterprise programme can do for you
• free four day explore enterprise workshops, which will help you with ideas and tips on how to start your own business
• support with writing your business plan
• test marketing grants of up to £250
• financial support to start your business including loans of up to £5,000 and small grants in special circumstances (conditions apply)
• up to two years support from a volunteer business mentor

Aftermath of attacks sees Virgin cut 1,200 jobs
Virgin Atlantic is to cut 1,200 jobs in response to the aftermath of last week's terrorist attacks on the United States. However, Virgin Action, the group's leisure and health club business, is to create 700 new jobs and plan to compensate for these losses by giving priority to Virgin Atlantic staff, the company said.

Taoiseach Announces €145m Investment
A leading biopharmaceutical company has revealed that they will invest €145m in their Dublin plant and with it create up to 400 jobs. Pfizer will make the investment at its Grange Castle biotechnology manufacturing facility in Clondalkin, Co. Dublin.

'Robust bookings' indicate UK tourism recovery
UK tour operator First Choice has reported "robust bookings" in the six months to 30 April and said they showed that the UK tourism industry was on its way to recovery. The firm said they had benefited from prudent planning for the summer, and that it had resisted any temptation to be over optimistic about trading conditions.

The Self Assessment filing deadline has been set for Wednesday 31 January, HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) has announced. With the deadline approaching, HMRC have also realised news of a number of Self Assessment webinars to help those who must file their tax return this January.
