PSNI: Dissident Republicanism A 'Twisted Ideology'

Police have slammed those with "twisted ideologies" after arresting a man in Lurgan on charges related to dissident republicanism.

The 34-year-old was arrested under the Terrorism Act on Wednesday, 17 October, by detectives from the PSNI's Terrorism Investigation Unit on suspicion of membership of a prescribed organisation and other related activities.

Detectives believe the man is withholding information likely to be of use for terrorism.

The accused has been taken to Musgrave Serious Crime Suite for questioning, and a number of mobile phones, electronic tablets and a memory stick were seized.

Speaking about the arrest, Detective Inspector Adrian Brown said: "As part of our investigations into ongoing dissident republican activity we have arrested a man earlier today.

"We will continue to disrupt the activities of those who wish to terrorise the community with their twisted ideologies so that people can live without fear."
