Staff At Co Down Shop Shaken After Armed Robbery

Members of staff at a shop in County Down have been left badly shaken after being threatened by a knife wielding man during an armed robbery.

The incident took place at around 6am on Monday when a man armed with a knife reportedly entered the premises on the Downpatrick Road in Ardglass.

The man threatened staff and made off with a sum of money and a quantity of cigarettes.

He left on foot in the direction of the Ardglass Road.

No one was injured during the incident.

Police are asking local residents if they saw the suspect who has been described as 5"9 in height, wearing a green jacket with fur on the hood, dark jeans and dark trainers with white soles.

Detective Sergeant Bell said: "Enquiries are continuing and we would appeal to anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area to contact detectives on 101, quoting reference number 178 22/10/18."

It is understood that two men armed with a gun and a knife threatened staff at a shop on Coolkeeran Road at about 19:00 on Saturday. The men made off with a quantity of cash and cigarettes. No-one was injured in the incident.

Police In Cookstown Appeal For Witnesses To Machete Robbery
Police are appealing for witnesses to an armed robbery in a pound shop in Cookstown. According to police a man armed with a machete threatened staff at the shop in the retail park on Orritor Road at about 19:30 on Monday. He escaped with an undisclosed sum of money. No one was injured in the robbery.

Police are appealing for information after two armed men robbed an off licence in Portadown, Co Armagh. The incident happened at premises in the Gilford Road area at around 9.40pm on Monday. The men, armed with a bat and a knife, threatened staff before making off with a sum of cash and a quantity of cigarettes.

The incident happened at premises on the Crumlin Road at around 7.35pm on Sunday. The man, armed with a knife, threatened staff and made off with a quantity of cigarettes and alcohol.
