Ex-Sinn Fein MP Avoids Prosecution Over Kingsmill Video

A former Sinn Fein MP who quit after sparking outrage when he posed with a Kingsmill-branded loaf of bread on his head on the anniversary of the Kingsmill massacre will not be prosecuted.

Northern Ireland's Public Prosecution Service (PPS) said there was insufficient evidence to provide a reasonable prospect of convicting Barry McElduff, 52, over the controversial post.

The PPS also announced it will not be taking action against Sinn Fein Assembly member Maírtín O Muilleoir who retweeted the video.

"We have given detailed consideration to the evidence provided by police in respect of the two men reported and have concluded that it is insufficient to provide a reasonable prospect of obtaining a conviction against either for any offence," PPS assistant director Martin Hardy said.

A prosecution would require proof that the men intended to cause offence, but it is understood the PPS were unable to establish this.

Nando's To Open Another Northern Ireland Restaurant

A new branch of the international chicken chain Nando's is set to open in Northern Ireland.

The store is expected to open in 2019 and will occupy a unit at The Junction, which is located just outside Antrim town.

The addition is part of a £30m redevelopment of the retail park which has been ongoing since April of this year, and aims to make it the largest shopping outlet in Northern Ireland.

Plans are in place for new retail units, two new drive-throughs, new cafes and restaurants, new road infrastructure and a full landscaping plan.

The Junction was bought by Lotus Property in 2016.

Alastair Coulson, the Managing Director of the firm said: "We are delighted to welcome Nando's. This addition of such a strong brand is testament to the confidence surrounding the Junction's future."
