Three 'Viable' Explosive Devices Found In Antrim

Three explosive devices have been uncovered during a security alert in Antrim, with a local councillor claiming they were abandoned beside a busy main road.

The PSNI received a report of a suspicious object on Sunday 04 November and were forced to close part of the main A26, between the Dunsilly roundabout and the Kilbegs Road roundabout.

Army technical officers dealt with the devices and no homes had to be evacuated, however traffic to the nearby Junction shopping centre was affected.

DUP councillor for the area Jordan Greer condemned those behind the incident.

"While the three devices uncovered appear to have been abandoned they still posed significant risk to anyone in close proximity," he said.

"Thanks to the PSNI and Army technical officers who swiftly ensured traffic diversions were in place and the safe disposal of the devices carried out.

"Sadly this type of incident remains all too common within Northern Ireland."

The alert ended just before 8pm and all cordons were lifted.
