Man Arrested Over Soldier Murders
A man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering two soldiers in Northern Ireland in 1972.
John Downey, 66, whose trial over the IRA's Hyde Park bomb collapsed, was detained by Gardai in County Donegal as part of a joint operation with the PSNI.
Mr Downey is expected to appear at Dublin High Court on Tuesday afternoon, 06 November.
He is suspected of killing Lance Corporal Alfred Johnston, 32, and Private James Eames, 33, in County Fermanagh.
They died when an IRA bomb exploded in a car they were checking on 25 August 1972.

Four men have been arrested following public disorder incidents in the university area of south Belfast on Thursday, November 14th. Police responded to a number of offences, including resisting and obstructing police, and assault on police. Three men, aged 18, 20, and 21, have been charged and are due to appear in court in December.
