Arrest Over West Belfast Paramilitary Style Attack
A 48-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a paramilitary-style attack that was carried out in west Belfast in September.
Detectives investigating the attack in the Turf Lodge area detained the man from Dungannon under the Terrorism Act on Tuesday 13 November.
Investigators believe the assault was carried out on behalf of a dissident republican group, Armna Poblachta (ANP).
"Despite claims from the groups responsible for carrying out these paramilitary-style attacks that they are protecting their communities, they are only ever about people cementing control," Detective Inspector Adrian Brown said.
"The thugs carrying out these brutal attacks give no thought to the psychological damage that they cause to people witnessing them."
Police are keen to speak to the driver of a small hatchback vehicle seen in the area on the night of the attack at around 11pm, and are appealing for witnesses to contact them on non-emergency line 101.
Four men aged 42, 35, 33 and 30 have already been charged with attempted murder and grevious bodily harm in relation to the incident.
