Bin Set On Fire In Hollywood Arson Attack

A bin has been placed against the front door of a house in Hollywood and set on fire, in an attack the police are treating as arson.

It occurred on Oakley Avenue at around 11.40pm on Wednesday 21 November.

The Northern Ireland Fire And Rescue Service attended the scene and extinguished the fire.

PSNI Detective Sergeant Lauren Edwards said they believe the bin was "deliberately set alight".

Damage was caused to the outside of the property.

Alliance Councillor for the area Andrew Muir has condemned the incident, and said he was "deeply disappointed" at the news.

"I know together we stand against this type of disruptive behaviour which only serves to drive negativity into our community," he said.

Mr Muir, along with the PSNI, is urging anyone with information to contact detectives and "ensure those responsible are removed from our streets and unable to strike again".

Officers in Bangor can be reached on 101, using reference 1380 of 21 November.
