Filipino man appears before court on terrorist charges
A Filipino man has appeared before Belfast Magistrates Court today charged with two counts of making funds available to others for the purposes of international terrorism.
Jaybe Ofrasio, 30, who lives in Hawthorne Street, Belfast, was arrested by police last week as part of an investigation into international terrorism.
The charges relate to south-east Asian terror group Jemaah Islamiah, which has links with the al-Qaeda network.
The court was told that when the charges were read out to Mr Ofrasio, he replied "no comment".
On Monday, a female nurse working at the Royal Victoria Hospital, who is from outside Northern Ireland, was released without charge by police.

Airport parking prices to increase
The General Consumers` Council has today hit out at reports of an increase in parking fees at Belfast International Airport. Motorists will face a 25% increase in short stay charges, while costs will increase by 100% in the long stay pre-booked car park.

Shoukri Pleads Guilty To Paramilitary Membership
A leading north Belfast loyalist who appeared in court today has pleaded guilty to being a member of the Ulster Defence Association (UDA). Ihab Shoukri, 34, from Westland Drive, appeared at Belfast Crown Court today with five other men in relation to an arrest which had taken place at a bar in March 2006.

A man has appeared before Belfast Magistrates Court today charged with extorting money on behalf of loyalist paramilitaries. Brian Gould, 35, from Pine Way, denied the charges read out to him after he was accused of receiving protection money from a Chinese restaurant owner on behalf of a paramilitary group, believed to be the UVF.
