Belfast Hijacking Sees Man Pulled From Car At Knifepoint
A man has been pulled from his car while being threatened with a knife during a hijacking in Belfast.
The driver was travelling on Chichester Street in his Range Rover at around 8.30pm on Wednesday 28 November when he was targeted.
The vehicle was subsequently recovered.
Detectives are currently investigating the incident and are calling on anyone who was in the area who may have witnessed the incident to get in touch by calling 101, quoting reference number 1147 of 28 November.
Yellow Wind Warning For NI
A yellow weather warning has been issued for Northern Ireland on Friday 07 December, with strong winds expected to bring disruption.
It will be in place from 3am until midnight, as a weather system moves eastwards across the UK bringing widespread gales.
Inland gusts of 60-70mph are possible, with up to 80mph expected in exposed locations.
The conditions may pose a small risk of injury or danger to life, from flying debris, large waves and beach materials being thrown onto seafronts, coastal roads and properties.
Power cuts may also occur, with the potential to affect other services.
Road, rail, air and ferry services may be affected, with longer journey times and cancellations possible. Some roads and bridges may also close, and there is a slight chance of damage to buildings, such as tiles blown from roofs.
Footballer Pays For Homeless To Stay In L'Derry Hotel
Footballer James McClean has paid for a group of homeless people from his home town to stay at a hotel.
The Stoke City and Republic of Ireland winger covered the cost of four rooms for four nights in L'Derry, including the cost of meals.
His father said he was "extremely proud" of the gesture.
It's such a great thing he's done," Patrick McClean added.
The 29-year-old is no stranger to acts of kindness.
He previously paid to help cover the costs of the funeral of a toddler, also from the town, who was tragically killed, and recently trained with the Oxford Bulls, a team of footballers from the area with Down's Syndrome.
