Stormy Weekend For NI With 70mph Winds Forecast
A spell of stormy weather is likely to bring disruption to Northern Ireland over the weekend with travel delays and cancellations.
A powerful low pressure system is set to arrive on Friday 07 December, prompting wind speeds of up to 80mph throughout the day.
A yellow weather warning has been issued for the most northernly areas and remains in place until midnight.
The public has been warned of potential power cuts, large waves in coastal areas, fallen trees, damage to property and a risk of flying debris.
Localised flooding could also become an issue in some parts.
A strong jet stream is expected to cause an unsettled weather pattern over the weekend, with temperatures set to drop next week.

The Met Office put the warning in place between midnight and noon on Saturday, 05 August, The heaviest rain is expected in Belfast and the South East, It said the wet and windy conditions could cause flooding in homes and businesses as well as travel disruption.

The weather warning comes into effect at 9.00 am and is due to remain in place until 5.00 pm with warnings that it could impact travel, cause power outages and lead to large waves in coastal areas.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for rain across Northern Ireland and Scotland on Saturday, 09 June. Slow-moving heavy thunderstorms are expected to develop on Saturday afternoon between 12am – 9pm, with potentially up to 20mm of rain to fall in less than an hour and 30 – 50mm possible in three hours.
