Gardaí Searching For Missing NI Doctor
A major search is underway in County Donegal for a Northern Ireland based doctor who went missing almost 10 years ago.
Dierdre O'Flaherty, a GP based in the Ballymagarry area of Strabane, has not been seen since 11 January 2009.
She had been staying in County Donegal with her husband and children at her family's holiday home in Moville, Innishowen.
Her car was found at a nearby beach at Kineggo Bay with the keys left in the ignition.
Despite an extensive air and sea search, the mother-of-three's body was never discovered.
Irish police said a land search and excavation has now begun in the Millford area of County Donegal, which is expected to take up to five days.
In 2010, three years after her disappearance, a High Court in Belfast ruled that Dr O'Flaherty had died after entering the sea.
