Elderly Woman Hit By Bus In Belfast
Police are appealing for information following an incident in east Belfast when an elderly woman was struck by a bus.
The collision happened at around 8am on Monday 07 January, close to the junction of Dee Street on the Newtownards Road.
A PSNI spokesperson said: "The driver of this bus did stop with the female to check that she was OK however no details were provided.
"If you are the driver of this bus or have information that could assist with our enquiries please contact police on 101 quoting reference number 223 07/01/19."
Sinn Fein: EU Funding Announcement For NI Exposes Brexit As Foolish
A major EU investment for Northern Ireland has exposed the foolishness of Brexit, Sinn Fein MP Chris Hazzard has said.
The additional funding of £29million, from the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB), will create five new shared space centres in south Belfast, Ballycastle, County Antrim, Derry and Pomeroy.
"The EU has played a key role in helping to build peace in the North, through investments just like this," the south Down MP said.
"Today's announcement again exposes the foolishness of the hard Brexit DUP-Tory Brexiteer agenda because they are prepared to jeopardise the EU funding which has been so crucial to our peace process.
"There is no prospect that the British Government will replace such EU funding streams post-Brexit so our economy and our communities will suffer as a result.
"Of course it should come as no surprise that the Tories are prepared to push our economy off a cliff edge in pursuit of a hard Brexit. We are just collateral damage to them.
"However, the DUP should explain to the public here why they continue to support policies that are so clearly against the best interests and wishes of the majority of people in the North."
Rory McIlroy Finishes Fourth In Season Opener
Northern Irish golfer Rory McIlroy had to settle for fourth place in the Tournament of Champions in Hawaii at the weekend.
The professional sportsman started the round on Sunday 06 January in second place, before hitting two birdies and a bogey.
He then fell behind and ended the round on 15 under overall, alongside Dustin Johnson and Marc Leishman.
McIlroy was making his debut at the tournament, which consists only of PGA Tour winners from the previous calendar year.
It's the seventh time since last January, however, that he has played in the final group and failed to win the tournament.

Belfast City Centre Bus Lane Scheme Criticised
The SDLP said it is "seriously concerned" after a city centre bus lane scheme in Belfast has left motorists confused. In Great Victoria street, one signpost contains two signs which have led to confusion, however motorists are still being fined.

Northern Ireland's Wrightbus International has secured major orders from two Hong Kong based bus operators. New World First Bus Services Limited has ordered 20 new double deck buses, while Citybus Limited have agreed to purchase 31. The deals amount to two new customers for the Ballymena based bus building company.
