Police Recover Large Knife During North Belfast Disorder

A large knife discarded by youths has been discovered by police in north Belfast, marking the second week in a row when weapons have been recovered in the area.

Officers on patrol at the Waterworks and Bone Hills over the weekend spotted the weapon.

They later urged parents to be aware of their child's whereabouts at all times while writing in a post on Facebook.

"Do you know if your child is actually at her friends house or have they sneaked out to go and hang about with these youths who are carrying these knives? ARE YOUR KIDS SAFE?? This is your priority.

"Large numbers of youths again have shown their lack of respect for the residents in the neighbouring streets.

"If anyone reading this can give a good reason why these knives are being carried on our streets please share it, as the only reason I can think of is too hurt someone."
