Man Fined £40K For Waste Offences In Antrim
A man has been ordered to pay a £40,000 fine after pleading guilty to six breaches of waste management legislation.
Noel Samuel McAllister, 73, from Ballycarry was fined under the Proceeds of Crime Act at Antrim Crown Court on Monday 18 February.
The offences date back to 2015, when Mr McAllister's skip business was investigated by the Northern Ireland Environment Agency over a period of seven months.
At the Bentra Road site of Campbell Skips, officers found that Mr McAllister was operating an illegal waste transfer station, depositing, keeping and burning large quantities of controlled waste as part of the operations.
Waste found on site included concrete, brick, ceramics, plastics, wiring, scrap metal, treated timber, plaster board, clothing, tyres, food and food packaging waste.
The £40,000 confiscation order is for the financial benefit attributed to the running of his illegal waste business at 45 Bentra Road.

£132k To Prevent Food Waste In L'Derry
A £132,000 grant from the Department of the Environment's Rethink Waste Fund has been approved to help prevent food waste in L'Derry.
