Urgent Appeal Issued For On-The-Run Prisoner

Police have issued an appeal for help in tracing the whereabouts of William Robert Martin, who has failed to return to Maghaberry.

It is understood that the 48-year-old, a life-sentence prisoner, failed to return to the prison after a period of "pre-release testing".

The NI Prison Service describe him as 1.73m tall with brown eyes and grey hair.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the PSNI on 101 immediately.

They also released a list of distinguishing marks: "Ear - Left, Scar; Eye - Right, Scar, Side of r/eye; Knee - Left, Scar; Finger - Right Thumb, Scar; Arm - Upper Left , Tattoo, Mks; Arm - Lower Right, Tattoo, Skull do or die; Arm - Upper Right, Tattoo, Mks mum; Arm - Upper Left, Tattoo, Mks."

The prison service said: "If you see anyone matching this description please call your nearest police station or contact CRIMESTOPPERS on 0800 555 111."

Four Arrested Following Disorder In South Belfast
Four men have been arrested following public disorder incidents in the university area of south Belfast on Thursday, November 14th. Police responded to a number of offences, including resisting and obstructing police, and assault on police. Police appeal for help in identifying injured man
A man is beening treated for serious head injuries in hospital after being found unconscious in Co Antrim on Thursday. Discovered in Newtownabbey in the early hours of this morning, it is not known how the man, who is believed to be in his 30s, suffered his injuries.

On The Run Prisoner Arrested In North Belfast
A 52-year-old man who failed to return to Maghaberry Prison has been arrested. James Valliday had been "unlawfully at large" and was detained at an address in north Belfast on Sunday, 17 December. A 29-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
