Police Uncover Cannabis Factory In Newry
Police have raided a cannabis factory in Newry and seized around £60,000 of the drug.
The discovery was made after officers received information about suspicious activity at an address on the Damolloy Road on Saturday 09 March.
A spokesperson said: "This was a rural property with several outbuildings and like the recent factory in Cullaville, in a quiet, rural, location. A search of the property unearthed 115 cannabis plants in a sophisticated set-up. To us that is close to £60,000 worth. £60,000 straight into the pockets of criminal gangs.
"How long would it take the average person to make £60,000 after tax? Never mind every several months. This factory has taken time and effort to install and at a cost too. We took great pleasure in taking the illegal operation out of commission and putting the factory beyond use.
"We currently have several lines of enquiry at present however we want to hear any information regarding suspicious activity in the Damolly Road area."
