North-West Railway Line To Close For Essential Track Work
Ongoing work on the North-West Transport Hub at the former Waterside Train Station in L'Derry is set to cause a line closure next weekend, from Friday 29 March to Monday 01 April.
The major Translink project is part of a £27 million investment from the European Union's INTERREG VA Programme, managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB), with match funding provided by the Department for Infrastructure and the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport in Ireland.
The ambitious cross-border project has the potential to completely transform travel in the North-West, encouraging a modal shift, and sitting comfortably alongside substantial Translink investment in the region in recent years.
This closure has been timed in order to minimise disruption for railway users and the wider community in the city. Bus substitutions will be in place between L'Derry and Coleraine, via Limavady, for NI Railways passengers during this period. Buses will depart from Foyle Street Bus Centre, and will service Waterside Railway Station. Customers who would normally travel to and from Bellarena should be aware that bus substitutions will serve Limavady Bus Station during this period.
NI Railways timetable for the Great Victoria Street and Coleraine line will operate as normal throughout the closure, with all services ultimately terminating in Portrush. Bus substitutions serving Castlerock, Limavady and L'Derry will be available from Coleraine Bus and Rail Centre.
Will Grigg Ruled Out Of NI's Euro 2020 Qualifiers Due To Injury
Will Grigg has been ruled out of Northern Ireland's qualifiers for the Euro 2020 tournament due to injuries.
The striker has returned to Sunderland for treatment and will miss matches against Estonia and Belarus. He also missed the last three games of last year due to an ongoing injury. The nature of the issue has not yet been made clear.
Michael O'Neill's side will open their qualifying campaign against Estonia at Windsor Park on Thursday 21 March, before playing Belarus on Sunday.
Lisburn Route To Undergo Resurfacing Work
A road at Lisburn's Ballinderry Industrial Estate is to undergo resurfacing works starting next week.
The £152,000 scheme will take place on the Ballinderry Road from 25 March.
A lane closure will be introduced between the hours of 8am and 6pm, Monday to Friday, during the work.
Access to businesses will be maintained throughout the project.
Work is expected to be substantially complete by late April.

Translink Urges Motorists To Avoid Risk Taking Around Railway Tracks
Translink has issued a reminder to motorists to avoid taking risks around railway tracks following a number of incidents of vehicles being hit by level crossing barriers. Last year 36 individuals were prosecuted for incidents including trespass, failure to observe a warning system and bridge strikes.

Suspect devices cause traffic chaos
A number of security alerts have caused traffic chaos in the greater Belfast area on Friday. Suspect devices were found at Holywood and Sydenham which led to the closure of the Belfast to Bangor railway line as well as part of the Sydenham bypass.

Translink Bus Strike 'Back On' From 17-23 May
The bus strike "is back on", the GMB Union has announced after their members rejected a revised pay offer. The union has said that drivers, cleaners and shunters across the company will walk out for seven days from 17 to 23 May 2022, "causing the entire bus network to grind to a halt".
