DUP Condemns Spate Of ATM Robberies
DUP leader Arlene Foster has condemned those who use diggers to steal cash machines, saying someone is likely to be seriously injured or killed.
It comes after a spate of ATM thefts across Northern Ireland this year, with pressure growing for the PSNI to make arrests.
A shop in Irvinestown, County Fermanagh was the latest to be targeted on Sunday 24 March.
"Those stealing ATMs are not only damaging property but are robbing rural communities," Mrs Foster said.
"The spate of ATM thefts is causing real damage to businesses within our towns, villages and rural areas. It must stop. To have a service like this in our local areas and High Streets brings more footfall and an increase in business. Without those services, people go elsewhere. Reckless criminals cannot continue to destroy the hard work of shop keepers who retain these services within communities."
The MLA for Fermanagh and south Tyrone has been engaging with Retail NI to ensure businesses targeted by the crimes are supported.
She continued: "I will also be meeting with the PSNI along with my rural colleagues Tom Buchanan and Keith Buchanan. With a new task force in place, it is vital that we ensure everything is being done to crack down on this activity. Local shops should not be left counting the cost of destruction at the hands of criminals."

Man Dies After Bus Fall In Belfast
Detectives are investigating the death of an 80-year-old man who fell from a bus in Belfast. Police have said that they believe the man was travelling on a 2J Translink Metro bus service at around 11:15am on Friday, 08 November, when he suffered a fall as the bus travelled along Royal Avenue, near it's junction with North Street.

Appeal Following Attempted ATM Theft In Ballymena
PSNI detectives investigating an attempted ATM theft at a service station on Cushendall Road in Ballymena overnight, have issued an appeal for information and witnesses. It is understood that three men were involved in trying to force the door of the room housing the machine shortly after 2am. They made off without gaining entry.
