Human Remains Discovered At Sea Near Co Down Harbour

A harbour in County Down was sealed off this morning, 26 March, after human remains were discovered at sea.

Police attended the scene at Portavogie Harbour after a boat brought the remains to shore.

Efforts are underway to establish the identity of the deceased and a cause of death.

There are no further details at present.

Storms Reveal Historic Shipwreck In Portrush Harbour
The remains of a shipwreck have been revealed in Portrush harbour, at the bottom of the early 19th century slipway. The remains were reported to Historic Environment Division (HED) after recent storms removed large amounts of sand from the area. HED archaeologists have visited the site to undertake a survey of the vessel remains.
