Ombudsman Seeking Witnesses To Cookstown Tragedy
The Police Ombudsman's office has commenced an investigation into the initial police response to the St Patrick's Day tragedy at the Greenvale Hotel in Cookstown.
Three young people from Co Tyrone, Lauren Bullock, Morgan Barnard and Connor Currie died after they were involved in a crush while waiting with around 350 to 400 others to enter a disco at the hotel.
Dr Michael Maguire and his team are now conducing an independent investigation to the initial police response, following a referral from the Chief Constable of the PSNI George Hamilton.
A Police Ombudsman spokesman said: "Our thoughts are with the families who have been so tragically bereaved.
"Our investigators have now begun gathering information about the initial sequence of events, and have appealed for witnesses to contact them. They are keen to hear from anyone who saw police in the area of the Greenvale Hotel on St Patrick's evening, 17 March."

The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.
