Equipment Stolen From East Belfast Nursery School
A nursery school in east Belfast has been burgled with laptops and a sum of money stolen.
Glendhu Nursery on the Garnerville Road was targeted at some point over the weekend with considerable damage caused, including stolen electronics and other valuable items.
The nursery caretaker discovered the scene on Sunday morning, 31 March.
As the stolen items cannot be replaced under the nursery's insurance, parents have set up a gofundme fundraising campaign and managed to raise over £1,750 in just one day.
Following the burglary, East Belfast DUP MLA Joanne Bunting commented:
"For a small nursery to have money and vital equipment stolen is unspeakable and abhorrent. I have no doubt this is extremely distressing and frustrating for the pupils, staff and parents who work so hard within extremely tight budgets to create a safe and enjoyable place for the children. It is utterly appalling that someone would sink so low as to steal from nursery children.
"As usual, the staff, parents and community have come together; setting up a Go Fund Me Page in order to help raise funds; and this is tremendous to see.
"I would urge anyone who has any information or who saw anything suspicious between 14:30 GMT on Friday 29 March and 11:00 BST on Sunday 31 March, to contact officers at Strandtown on 101 quoting reference number 603 31/03/19."
