L'Derry Security Alert Declared A Hoax

A security alert which saw homes evacuated and roads closed in L'Derry yesterday afternoon has been declared a hoax.

Police and army bomb experts attended the scene after a suspicious object was reported in the Fern Park area on Thursday afternoon, 04 April.

A controlled explosion was later carried out and the alert determined as a hoax.

Residents have now returned to their homes and all roads have reopened.

Suspicious Object Sparks L'Derry Security Alert
Families have been evacuated from their L'Derry homes amid reports of a suspicious device in the area. A police operation in the vicinity of Clon Elagh, just off the Skeoge Road, was sparked this afternoon, Monday 15 April, after an object was discovered. Local residents have been asked to evacuate the area as a precaution. Police are at the scene.
