Cyclist Dies After Collapsing On Co Down Road

A cyclist has died after being found collapsed on his way home from a cycle in County Down.

Cookstown man Philip Corr was found on the Ballynahinch Road in Dromara on the afternoon of Saturday 06 April.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. The death is not being treated as suspicious.

The road was closed for several hours but has since reopened.

Woman Assaulted In East Belfast

Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was assaulted in east Belfast last week.

The incident happened in the Finmore Court area at around 11.15am on the morning of Thursday 04 April.

A man assaulted the woman and made off with her purse and some cash.

He is described as around 6'3" tall, of stocky build, wearing a black hoodie, black baseball cap and dark blue stonewashed jeans with white trainers.

Anyone with information is urged to contact police on 101 quoting incident number 437.

School Choir Of The Year Winners Announced

Thornhill College and Ebrinton Primary School, both from L'Derry, have been named as Northern Ireland's top senior and junior school choirs in the BBC's School Choir Of The Year.

The winning pupils battled it out against 60 other choirs, before three schools competed in both the junior and senior categories at Belfast's Ulster Hall on Sunday 07 April.

Each choir was invited to perform two songs for the judges, including guest judge Carrie Grant, vocal coach, singer and television presenter.

The rest of the judging panel was made up of Ciaran Scullion, Head of Music, Arts Council for Northern Ireland; Richard Yarr, Senior Producer Classical Music, BBC Radio Ulster, and Andrew Nunn, Musical Director with the Ulster Youth Choir.

The choirs taking part in the Junior category final were: Pond Park Primary School, Lisburn; Ebrington Primary School, Londonderry, and Macosquin Primary School, Coleraine.

In the Senior category competing in the final were: Carrickfergus Grammar School; Thornhill College, Derry and Dalriada School, Ballymoney.

Heavy Snow Closes Over 80 Schools
Over 80 schools across Northern Ireland have been closed as the heavy snow continues to cause disruption on Tuesday morning. The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning, as the snow is continuing to affect many roads. Areas which have been majorly disrupted include Lisburn, Castlereagh and Carryduff.

Fire At L'Derry Primary School Being Treated As Suspicious
A fire at a L'Derry primary school is believed to have been started deliberately. The fire at the Good Shepherd Primary School, in the Waterside area of the city, was reported shortly before 8pm on Wednesay night, 10 August.

Final Roll Call For Two Primary Schools
Two Co Antrim primary schools are to close because of falling rolls. The Sinn Fein Education Minister, John O'Dowd, has approved a proposal to close Lourdes Primary School, Whitehead: "I have agreed to the closure [because of] a decline in enrolments in recent years [that] has given rise to concern.
