Warning As Items Thrown Onto Motorway
The PSNI has issued a warning following reports of young people throwing items onto a motorway in Ballymena, Co Antrim.
A number of incidents have taken place in recent days, with various items thrown from the Crebilly Road flyover onto the M2 below.
A police spokesperson said there could be potentially tragic consequences and warned parents in the area to speak to their children about the obvious dangers.
"I can't believe we are actually having to post this. When you see the context, it's amazing we are not talking about someone being seriously injured or worse. We all know what could happen next time.
"Imagine, a car doing 70 MPH and impacting with a stone, apple or something else which has been thrown from a height. Definitely not a good combination."
The public are advised to be on the lookout for youths acting suspicious in the area and report any unusual activity, particularly around flyovers and bridges.
