Appeal As Men Interfere With BT Equipment
Police in Lisburn have appealed for information after two men were spotted interfering with BT equipment down a manhole in Carryduff.
The incident reportedly took place at the junction of the Comber Road and Saintfield Road in the town on Wednesday 15 May.
They were observed at some time between 1.30 and 2.45 in the afternoon and both wore dark clothing.
No other details are known however police are urging anyone who was travelling in the area to check their dash cam footage and pass on any useful information by calling 101, quoting reference 696 of 15/05/19.
Alliance Party Shock At Attempted ATM Robbery
An Alliance Councillor for east Belfast has expressed his shock at an attempted ATM theft this morning, Friday 17 May, in Gilnahirk.
Four men have been arrested following the incident, which saw the attempted robbery at a service station on the Gilnahirk Road. It is one of a series of attempted thefts of cash machines across Northern Ireland recently.
"I'm shocked to hear there has been yet another attempt at an ATM theft, this time in East Belfast," said Councillor Ross McMullan.
"I understand damage has been caused to the nearby Gilnahirk Primary School, as those behind this attempted theft are believed to have used it as an escape route. I offer my support and help to the school and businesses, which are at the heart of the local community.
"I am glad there has been a swift response by the PSNI and I hope it marks the end of this spate of ATM robberies. If anyone has any information on this incident or others, I urge them to contact police with it."
Iceland Brings New Format To Latest Craigavon Store
Frozen food supermarket chain Iceland has opened a newly formatted store at Rushmere Shopping Centre in Craigavon, Co Armagh.
The 10,000 sq ft store features self-service checkouts, digital screens and a 'Food-to-Go' stand.
Approximately 32 jobs have been created, with further recruitment set to take place later this year.
This is the chain's 36th branch in Northern Ireland and adds to Rushmere's fully-let roster of retail offerings.
Centre Manager Martin Walsh said: "With our prime location, mix of retail stores and variety of big brands, Rushmere Shopping Centre continues to build on the success of 2018 by adding to our retail offering.
"We are delighted to welcome the new format Iceland store to Rushmere Shopping Centre. Our customers come to us because of our strong retail mix catering for all budgets, and the addition of Iceland only strengthens this offering."
