Employment Rate Reaches Joint Record High
The employment rate in Northern Ireland has reached a joint record high, a new report has revealed.
The latest Labour Force Survey (LFS) estimates for February-April show a 0.4 percentage point increase in the employment rate to 71.3%.
Along with strong employment, the sector has also seen a fall in the unemployment rate which now sits at 3.1%.
The economic inactivity rate was unchanged over the quarter and decreased by 1.4pps over the year to 26.4%.
Despite encouraging estimates, approximately 581 confirmed redundancies were also notified to the Department in May 2019, an increase from the revised total of 60 notified in April 2019.

Earlier this year, the Minister provided funding to successfully resolve the long-running industrial dispute over teachers' pay for 2021-24.
