Major Fire Breaks Out Near Co Antrim Services
Fire crews have spent the night battling a blaze close to an Applegreen service station in Ballymena, County Antrim.
The fire appears to have broken out at nearby building materials suppler JP Corry, on the A26 carriageway on Sunday evening, 16 June.
In a statement released last night, the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service said the blaze was "well developed" and would take some time to be brought under control.
The A26 southbound carriageway was closed overnight but has since reopened. The cause of the blaze is not yet known.

ASSEMBLY CREATE AWARD TO HONOUR FIRE SERVICE

An illuminated scroll is to be presented to Chief Fire Officer John McClelland on Tuesday, by assembly speaker Lord Alderdice in tribute to the sacrifice made by fire fighters over the years.

NIFRS Launches Online Home Fire Safety Check Tool
The Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS) has introduced a new online tool to help residents assess their home fire safety. The Home Fire Safety Check coincides with Fire Safety Week, which runs from September 30th to October 6th. The initiative aims to reduce the number of house fires in Northern Ireland.

SF Calls For Action On NI Mental Health Services
Sinn Féin has called for more to be done to improve mental health services across the north of Ireland. The party's mental health spokesperson, MLA Órlaithí Flynn, made the call after the release of the Registrar General's 2023 Annual Report which has highlighted an increase in deaths by suicide in 2023.

Man Dies In House Fire In Co Tyrone
Police have launched an investigation after a man died in a house fire in Co Tyrone. The blaze happened at property on the Lissan Road in Cookstown on Tuesday morning, 15 November. Emergency services attended the scene however the man, aged in his 80s, was found dead at the scene. The fire is not believed to be suspicious.

Pensioner Dies After Being Injured In House Fire
A 93-year-old man who was injured in a house fire in Co Armagh on Sunday has died. The blaze happened in a bungalow in the Richmond Heights area, Richhill, at approximately 10.30pm. The victim and his 86-year-old wife were rescued from the fire by the emergency services, however the man died from his injuries at Craigavon Area Hospital on Tuesday.
