Warning As Schoolchild Knocked Down
The PSNI has warned motorists to take care on the roads after a schoolchild was knocked down when getting off a bus yesterday, Monday 24 June.
The pupil was struck by a car shortly after disembarking from the bus in Pomeroy, County Tyrone. They were initially treated by ambulance personnel at the scene before being taken to hospital.
A spokesperson for PSNI Cookstown warned drivers and pedestrians to take caution on the roads following the serious incident. Writing on Facebook, the officer said: "We're at the end of term and many kids are excited to be looking forward to the summer break.
"When you're driving the roads be extra alert that wherever you are travelling, kids getting off buses may not be expecting you coming along the road in the same way you may not be expecting them to walk out from behind or in front of the bus. Slow down, take extra time going around the bus.
"Same goes for you if you're getting off the bus, take the extra few seconds to stop, look and listen. It will save your life."

Belfast City Centre Bus Lane Scheme Criticised
The SDLP said it is "seriously concerned" after a city centre bus lane scheme in Belfast has left motorists confused. In Great Victoria street, one signpost contains two signs which have led to confusion, however motorists are still being fined.
