Greenvale Tragedy: Five PSNI Officers Face Watchdog Probe

The Police Ombudsman is set to investigate five PSNI officers for alleged misconduct over the Cookstown crush tragedy.

Three teenagers lost their life outside the Greenvale Hotel while waiting to enter a St. Patrick's Day party in an incident described as a crush.

The watchdog probe comes after the PSNI asked the ombudsman to review the actions of the first officers on the scene in the wake of the tragedy. Four of those being investigated attended the incident, while the fifth was involved in call handling that night.

Morgan Barnard and Lauren Bullock, both 17, and 16-year-old Connor Currie all died outside the venue.

The PSNI said at the time that the first officers initially withdrew from the scene of the crush to await further support, but it has since been confirmed that five officers will be investigated for alleged misconduct in public office.
