NI Man Killed In Motorcycle Race

A man from Northern Ireland has tragically died following a crash at a motorcycle race in County Westmeath.

The 34-year-old was seriously injured in the collision at Walderstown at around 11.30am on Sunday, 14 June.

He was airlifted to the Mater Hospital in Dublin where he passed away.

Gardaí are believed to be investigating the death.

The event was cancelled following the crash and forensic teams were tasked to examine the site. A post-mortem examination will follow.

Co Down Road Reopens Following Fire
A County Down road has reopened following a fire on Friday, 14 July. The Church Street area in Downpatrick was closed and diversions were put in place. The fire was discovered by officers on mobile patrol who were in attendance at a flat and they raised the alarm and residents were able to exit their properties.

Alliance has called for the urgent implementation of a new Race Relations Strategy, following the news of a rise in race hate incidents. Spokespeople for the Executive Office, Paula Bradshaw, was speaking after figures were released by the PSNI and the NI Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA) in a recent report.

DSD To Spend Over £300,000 On Giro Route
