Open Week Gets Underway In Portrush

After much anticipation and years of planning, Open week is well underway in Portrush as some of golf's biggest names take to the course for practice rounds.

Around 215,000 spectators from around the world are set to tread the Dunluce Links this week as the 148th Open Championship is played out.

Tiger Woods was joined by fellow Americans Dustin Johnson and Patrick Reed as they got to grips with the course on Sunday, with Rickie Fowler also practicing his swing.

With fifteen major wins already under his belt, Woods is bidding for a fourth Open victory. He secured his first major win in 11 years in April with a Masters victory after undergoing four back operations.

Around £80 million is expected to be spent in the area throughout the week with local talent Graeme McDowell, Darren Clarke and Rory McIlroy also set to compete.
