Summer Rose Fair To Get Underway In Belfast

The annual celebration of roses is set to return to Sir Thomas and Lady Dixon Park this weekend as the Summer Rose Fair.

Organised by Belfast City Council, the event will see over 45,000 roses showcased in the picturesque south Belfast park. The City of Belfast International Rose Trials will take place on Friday 19 July with a panel of judges from around the world completing the judging of the prized blooms on display from rose breeders.

One of the anticipated highlights of the fair, the Sustainable Living Emporium will provide information on the growing trend of living more sustainably. Local designers and businesses will showcase their cutting-edge creations from upcycled materials in a Fashion Show each day at 1.30pm, 3pm and 4pm among the rose beds.

And there's something for everyone to enjoy with yoga in the park, crazy golf, a photography workshop, tea dance, music, entertainment, market stalls, face-painting, puppet shows and bouncy castle fun. Refreshments will be available on site from a selection of food vendors or from the Stables Coffee Shop.

As well as Friday 19, the fair will run over the weekend from 11am to 5pm with music in the evenings.

Admission is free and a free shuttle bus will run from the City Hall grounds (east side) direct to Sir Thomas and Lady Dixon Park, operating daily at 20 minute intervals. The service will commence at 12 noon with the last bus leaving the City Centre at 5pm. Drop off and collection point at Sir Thomas and Lady Dixon Park is in the Upper Car Park. Return journey from the park will commence at 12.20pm and the last bus will leave the park at 5.20pm.
