Kittens Rescued After Being Dumped In Co Tyrone Canal
A member of the public has entered a canal in County Tyrone and rescued several kittens that were discarded in a bag.
The incident at Coalisland Canal comes just five weeks after a dog was stolen from its owner and weighed down in the water.
While police praised the local resident who entered the water and saved the kitten before taking them to a vet, they have advised members of the public to always be mindful of their own personal safety.
"Do not dump or abandon unwanted animals or pets and cause them unnecessary suffering," the officer added.
Snow Patrol Hit The Most Played Song Of 21st Century
Snow Patrol frontman and Bangor-born musician Gary Lightbody has spoken of his joy that the band's hit song Chasing Cars has been revealed as the most played song on UK radio in the 21st Century so far.
The band was awarded a prize from music listening company PPL and Gary later spoke on local TV and radio about the success.
He later wrote on Twitter: "Blown away by the love that's out there still for the song. Thanks to all the radio stations for playing it & all the listeners who requested it over the years."
Chasing Cars was also the last song performed live on British chart programme Top of the Pops.
Road Works Announced In Carrickfergus
A series of road works is set to take place in Carrickfergus, Co Antrim, starting next week.
This £104,000 scheme will see a 240-metre section of Northland resurfaced from the North Road junction towards Pinewood Avenue.
Work will begin on Monday 22 July and run until Friday 23 August.
A lane closure will be implemented from 22 July to 02 August from 7am until 6pm. This will be followed by a full road closure from 05-13 August between the same hours.
Access for residents will be facilitated and a two-way diversion will be in operation via North Road – Bridewell Drive – Sunnylands Avenue.
Drivers should expect some delays and are advised to allow additional time when travelling in the area.
