NI Ambulance Service Recruiting Helicopter Paramedics
Northern Ireland Ambulance Service is recruiting for new helicopter paramedics to be based at the Air Ambulance base at Maze Long Kesh in Lisburn and Emergency Ambulance Control at NIAS HQ in Belfast.
Successful candidates will join the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) team which is made up of 15 doctors and seven paramedics.
The job description states: "The charity's operational helicopter carries a crew compiling of a pilot, doctor, and NIAS HEMS paramedic, 365 days of the year operating for twelve hours every day.
"They attend some of the most traumatic medical incidents across the province and are dedicated to delivering the very best possible pre-hospital care, both at the scene and whilst transferring the patient to the most appropriate hospital for their specific injuries.
"The EC135 helicopter can get anywhere in the province in approximately twenty-five to thirty minutes and the rapid response is vital in an emergency situation. If a patient reaches hospital within the Golden Hour (60 minutes after their injury) their chances of survival are dramatically increased."
HEMS paramedics operate alongside the Air Ambulance doctors seven days a week and are provided by Northern Ireland Ambulance Service in line with a memorandum of understanding with the AANI charity.
Two of the roles are permanent and two are on three-year secondments with band six pay between £27,772 and £36,280. Successful candidates will be contracted to work 37.5 hours a week.

Man Dies After Bus Fall In Belfast
Detectives are investigating the death of an 80-year-old man who fell from a bus in Belfast. Police have said that they believe the man was travelling on a 2J Translink Metro bus service at around 11:15am on Friday, 08 November, when he suffered a fall as the bus travelled along Royal Avenue, near it's junction with North Street.
