Police Attacked While Removing Bonfire Material
Police have been targeted with petrol bombs and stones while assisting in the removal of bonfire material in a west Belfast park.
Officers stepped in to support Belfast City Council clear a site at the edge of Colin Glen Forest Park on Saturday 27 July, at the request of local community and political leaders.
During the operation there was some sporadic disorder with stone throwing and petrol bombs thrown at police. The issue was dealt with swiftly, with two people arrested for riotous behaviour and unlawful assembly.
Sergeant McKinley stated: "This behaviour is destructive to the local community and will not be tolerated!
"Colinglen Forest Park is a brilliant space and enjoyed by the local community and families. This behaviour cannot be allowed to take place anywhere let alone in a public space such as this. We will act and take action when people behave like this."

The PSNI have condemned the assault of four police officers when they were attacked by young people in West Belfast. At around 6:50pm on Saturday, 06 April, police received a report in relation to community concerns that a large group of young people had congregated in Falls Park and that alcohol was being consumed by children.

Woman Hit By Scrambler Dies
A woman hit by a scrambler motorbike in west Belfast has died. Valerie Armstrong was walking her dog in Colin Glen Forest Park on Tuesday, 19 July, when she was struck by the vehicle. The mother-of-three died in hospital as a result of her injuries.

Police have revealed that following a post-mortem examination of the body of a woman discovered at a forest park on the outskirts of Belfast yesterday, the circumstances surrounding the death are not believed to be suspicious.
