Status Yellow Weather Warning For Thunderstorms
A Yellow weather warning for thunderstorms has been issued across Northern Ireland with heavy rain and hail forecast for some areas, with travel delays and difficult driving conditions possible.
There could be flooding and a slight chance of power cuts due to lightning strikes.
What to expect:
• There is a good chance driving conditions will be affected by spray, standing water and/or hail, leading to longer journey times by car and bus
• Delays to train services are possible
• Some short term loss of power and other services is likely
• Probably some damage to a few buildings and structures from lightning strikes.
You should note the following numbers in case of emergency:
• Emergency services – 999 or 112
• Flooding Incident Line – 0300 2000 100
• Northern Ireland Electricity Networks – 03457 643 643
• NI Gas Emergency Service – 0800 002 001
• Northern Ireland Water Waterline – 03457 440 088
• Housing Executive – 03448 920 901
• Report a fallen tree or blocked road - 0300 200 7891.

An investigation has been launched into the cause of a fire at an industrial estate in Antrim. Emergency services responded to reports of a fire at the Rathenraw Industrial Estate at about 8.35pm on Tuesday, 19 October.

NI Emergency Services College 'Put Off'
A start date for an already long-delayed training college for the emergency services in NI is now in doubt. Builders are being further frustrated and the Ulster Unionist Mid-Ulster MLA Billy Armstrong has demanded action on the Public Services Training College for the police, fire and rescue and prison services at Desertcreat near Cookstown.

Man Rescued From River Lagan
A man has been rescued from the River Lagan in Belfast. At around 1.20pm on Friday, emergency services were called to the scene close to the Ormeau Bridge. It was reported a man had fallen into the river but when emergency services reached the scene the man had already been pulled to safety. He has been taken to hospital.

Attacks on emergency workers rising
Health Minister, Michael McGimpsey, says he will consider introducing legislation to deter attacks on emergency service staff. Outlining the extent of the problem Mr McGimpsey said the number of attack on emergency workers over the past year are still on the rise despite increased publicity and public awareness.
