PSNI Probe Suspected Shooting

Police are investigating a suspected shooting in Omagh, County Tyrone.

Officers were called to the Thornlea area of the town on Tuesday evening, 13 August.

The incident, involving a black motorcycle with two riders, is believed to have occurred between 8pm and 8.15pm. The motorcycle then headed in the direction of Deverney Road.

Police have appealed for anyone who witnessed the reported incident, or who noticed the vehicle on Tuesday evening to contact detectives on non-emergency line 101 quoting reference 1801 of 13/08/19. Alternatively, details can be passed anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Sinn Fein MP Órfhlaith Begley has condemned those behind the shooting and reiterated the appeal for information.

She commented: "I was disgusted to hear of incident in the Thornlea area of Omagh.

"Those responsible acted recklessly and with intent to cause serious injury or worse.

"There is no place for guns on our streets and this morning the local community are rightly angered by what happened.

"This is a quiet area and no one wants to see this type of activity.

"A PSNI investigation is underway and anyone with information should bring it forward."
