Nóra Quoirin: Book Of Condolence Opens In Belfast
A book of condolence for Nóra Quoirin has opened in Belfast City Hall.
Opened by the Lord Mayor of the city, Councillor John Finucane, it follows the discovery of Nóra's body in Malaysia.
The 15-year-old, who was described by her family as vulnerable with special educational needs, was reported missing from the Dusun holiday resort on Sunday 04 August.
Nine days later, with searches that involved over 300 rescue personnel, her body was located just kilometres from the jungle resort.
A post-mortem examination is ongoing today, Wednesday 14, with details on the cause of death expected tomorrow.
Nóra's parents are a French-Irish couple who had lived in London for 20 years. Her mother Meabh hails originally from Belfast. In an emotional statement released following confirmation of her death, the heartbroken family thanked all who had been searching for Nóra.
"Nóra has brought people together, especially from France, Ireland, Britain and Malaysia, united in their love and support for her and her family," it read. "She has truly touched the whole world. To all our friends and family at home, we can't thank you enough for all your love.
"Nóra is at the heart of our family. She is the truest, most precious girl and we love her infinitely. The cruelty of her being taken away is unbearable. Our hearts are broken.
"We will always love our Nóra."
The book is available to sign during the opening hours of 8.30am- 5pm.
