Arrest As Police Discover Cocaine Worth Over £3,000
Police have seized over £3,000 of cocaine and arrested two individuals following searches in the Armagh and Portadown areas.
One of the individuals was arrested following a car search near Richill where the substance was found to be hidden on an occupant of the car.
Police released an image of their field testing kits, used while on patrol to give an indication of what an illegal substance is. The drugs were shown to be cocaine.
Another individual who was arrested during the search operations does not appear to have been connected with the drug seizure.
Hundreds Compete In Coleraine Road Race
Hundreds of runners took to the streets of Coleraine this week to compete in the Edwin May Five Mile Classic.
With 506 entrants, this year's event was the biggest since it was first held in Coleraine.
Organised by Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, runners set off from their starting point at Railway Road at 7.30pm on Wednesday, with the race route ending in the town centre.
Craig Simpson completed the route in 24:54, making him the overall male winner, while Gemma McDonald took the female title with 29:50.
The Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, Sean Bateson said: "This is a fantastic annual sporting event in Coleraine and it is great to see its popularity continue to rise with more people taking part every year. I would like to congratulate everyone who participated including those who achieved personal best times and those who ran the race for the first time. My thanks go to Springwell Running Club and Edwin May Nissan for their continued assistance in helping to deliver such a successful occasion for everyone involved."
The evening finished with a prize-giving ceremony in Coleraine Leisure Centre.
Construction Work Announced For Lisburn Route
Road works are set to take place in Lisburn from next week.
The £100,000 investment will see Lisnagarvey Drive resurfaced and reconstructed from Monday 19 August until late September.
When complete, the surface of the road will be strengthened and improved.
Road users should expect some delays and are urged to allow additional time when travelling in the area.
