Child Assaulted In North Belfast

Police in north Belfast are seeking to identify a male suspect in relation to an assault on a child last month.

The incident took place on Salisbury Avenue at approximately 7.35pm on Sunday 14 July. An 11-year-old child is believed to have been targeted.

The suspect, who spoke with a Belfast accent, is described as in his late fifties, 5'9" in height, of medium build, clean shaven and with a light tan.

Anyone with information which may be relevant is urged to contact police on non-emergency line 101 quoting reference number 1591 of 14/07/19.

More Work Needed To Tackle Child Poverty
According to recent research more needs to be done to get children in Northern Ireland out of Poverty, with the British Government being blamed for the elimination target slipping. The charity Barnardos has revealed that two areas in Northern Ireland have two of the highest rates of child poverty in the UK.

New Arlene Arkinson Search Ends
A new search operation launched by police investigating the disappearance of Arlene Arkinson has ended with "nothing suspicious" found. Police had cordoned off an area near Killen, outside Castlederg, last Thursday. The area is close to where Arlene was last seen alive with convicted child killer and rapist Robert Howard.

Heavy Snow Closes Over 80 Schools
Over 80 schools across Northern Ireland have been closed as the heavy snow continues to cause disruption on Tuesday morning. The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning, as the snow is continuing to affect many roads. Areas which have been majorly disrupted include Lisburn, Castlereagh and Carryduff.

Man Armed With Screwdriver Threatens Staff In South Belfast
A man armed with a screwdriver has threatened staff at premises in south Belfast, according to the police. The suspect entered the shop on the Dublin Road at around 10.15am on Sunday, 02 May. He threatened staff and made off with a sum of cash. However, the man believed to have been involved in the incident, was detained by members of the public.
